Darby is the office manager at the firm. Her background in management and various aspects of operational support gives her a clear understanding of office administration. She is eager to contribute to team success through hard work, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Darby understands and exemplifies the value of personalized service and clear communications. She faces challenges head on and is ready to expand her knowledge of the legal field.

Stephenie is a paralegal with over 28 years of experience in the legal field. She supports the firm in various aspects of law, including matters involving civil litigation, personal injury, real estate, business law, and family law. After graduating from Sentinel High School, she attended Missoula College – University of Montana. There, she completed the Legal Secretary and Legal Assisting programs and graduated in 1992. Afterwards, she earned her Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) designation in 1995.

Dawn is a seasoned paralegal with over two decades of industry experience. With an extensive background in civil litigation, personal injury, insurance litigation (including bad faith), medical malpractice, employment law, business formation and transactions, bankruptcy, and creditor’s rights, she is well-versed in various aspects of law and is considered an expert in her field. Dawn provides advanced litigation support to Laird Cowley’s attorneys and clients and is a critical asset to our team.

Amber Carlson is an accomplished paralegal who possesses over sixteen years of legal experience. With extensive expertise in various aspects of law, including divorce and custody disputes, estate planning, probate, and real estate law, Amber utilizes her deep legal knowledge to provide critical support to Laird Cowley’s attorneys and clients on Family Law matters. She is a valued member of our team and plays a vital role in contributing to the success of our Helena office in support of Partner & Attorney, Sara Berg and Associate Attorney Sarah McClain.

Kayla Grimes is a dedicated paralegal on the Laird Cowley team. Leveraging over 10 years of experience in business management and customer service, Kayla works to support our attorneys in day-to-day operations through dedicated case file management, legal research, and clerical tasks. She is well-versed in various aspects of law including business law, employment law, commercial litigation, and beyond.

Deb is an accomplished professional with over two decades of administrative experience. She works with skill and dedication to support our attorneys and is adept in handling special projects for the firm. Her superb organization and communication skills allow her to consistently meet deadlines and perform her work with exceptional accuracy and proficiency.

Rachel Leader is a skilled Legal Assistant with a wide-ranging professional background and a commitment to excellence. Her proficiency in project management, conflict resolution, and administrative tasks makes her a good fit on the Laird Cowley team. Rachel oversees case file management, drafts legal documents, and ensures effective communication among parties, providing essential support to the firm’s clients, attorneys, and staff.

Madeline is a legal assistant who applies excellent writing skills in drafting correspondence, briefs, and contracts. She is diligent in her work and eager to apply time management and organizational skills to her role. She is dedicated to client advocacy and their interests and providing comprehensive assistance to our attorneys.

Laird Cowley has a rich tradition of mentoring the next generation of lawyers through the employment of legal interns. We believe professional excellence in lawyering begins in law school.
